February 15, 2014 - February Ipsy Bag

This post is going to be a little off, but oh wells.

My Ipsy bag came Saturday!  If you don't know about it, Ipsy is a beauty subscription.  I work in a lab, so it's fun to get to pretend I'm still a girl every now and then.  It's $10/month and they send you some products.  Some full-sized, some deluxe samples, some samples.

It comes in this sweet hot pink bubble mailer.

 First look

They all come with a cosmetic bag.  Needless to say, I have a lot of these...

I was most excited for this.  I love nail polish, and Zoya is one of my favorites.  I think they are "5 free (natural)".  Anyhow, this polish is $9, so that almost pays for the whole bag.

Breakdown:
Zoya polish - Full Size $9
City Color Be Matte Blush - Full Size $2.99
POP Beauty Plump Pout Mini- $8
J. Cat Beauty - Eyelashes and Glue - $3.99
skyn ICELAND Fresh Start Mask with Ice Age Mud - Sample
Cosmetic Bag - eh, who cares ;)

Happy with my Ipsy bag!

February 14, 2014 - Happy Valentine's Day

For no particular reason, I had a semi-emotional drive home.  I was just thinking about my parents and feeling kind of bummed.  I spend more time crying in my car than anywhere else.  Isn't that weird?  I guess those days just happen here and there.  I felt better by the time I got home and even better when I saw this.  I'm still loved. :)

He is so sweet.  My dad was my first Valentine and I'm so happy to see that they have somebody so wonderful too.

Of course, ending any night hanging out with one of my girls is always the best.
I love how they like to "hang out" now.  So cute.

February 12, 2014 - Playing "Stay at Home Mom" (for a day)

Our childcare provider had a family emergency and since my mom's passing, we haven't really found new options for the girls in a pinch.  So I stayed home.  Brielle had an ENT appointment though, so it worked out.

After we dropped Adelyn off at school, Brielle and I went to Lowe's and then PetSmart.  We saw all of the creatures there.  Brielle said hi to them all.  To the right she was literally waving to the fish and saying "Hiii!"

She's a hoot.

When we got home, I finally fixed our sink in the bathroom upstairs.  I took the drain out in November and just now put it back together.  Who does that?? It was just slow draining and I didn't mean to take the whole thing apart, it just kind of happened.  The good news is I'm awesome.  The bad news is my awesomeness took a few months to finally come to fruition.  Meh.

Brielle and I made Nyla a new tag and got her a new collar.  I think her old one was skunked.

February 11, 2014 - Dancing Queens

Addy's school had a family preschool dance.
Their father insisted they wear dresses.

It turns out preschool dances are like reverse middle school dances.  The parents are all sitting on the side watching.

It took Addy a little while to warm up to her dancing debut, but when she did, ooooh boy.  She's twirling with her room aide here.

February 10, 2014 - My Whole Heart for my Whole Life

I get a few subscription boxes each month.  In one of them were these.  I've seen the "sprinkles" ones on the right a few times and have wanted to try them, but just haven't.  They aren't at all a nail polish, they are completely loose and you put in on your polish.  Anyhow, not at all practical, but it will be fun (or an epic fail) for a weekend.  End girly chat. :)

My girls are so goofy!  This house is definitely full of laughter.

We made Valentine's Day cupcakes.  I love V-day.  Probably only because I love things that are pink and fluffy, but whatever.  Looks like I successfully nailed my next desk picture...

They decorated their own cupcakes, as may be evident.

Cupcakes complete!

February 9, 2014 - Keep it in a Box

Addy had homework this week.  As a family, we were to construct a box for treasures and keepsakes.  This was our starting point.

While the paint was drying, I had Addy work on her Valentines.  It's so neat watching her write her own name without a bit of help from me.

February 8, 2014 - A Slow Saturday

Ah, there's nothing better to do on a Saturday than nothing at all.  I love waking up early on Saturday, drinking coffee and watching the news.  Oh look, I just became an old lady.  What of it?

Saturday morning cartoons for the girls.

And cuddles for me.

The girls got to have to a slumber party with their Aunt Ruth, and I got to go have lunch with my dear friend, Julie....

....aaaand visit her little meatball!  I love this squishy little lady!

Finished the night cuddling with my first baby.

February 7, 2014 - Family Bowling

I'm saying it in hopes of making a better effort- I really need to take more pictures.  I try to just be in the moment, later forgetting them anyhow, rather than just grab my camera and go for it.

After work, a couple of fellow co-workers and I stopped at this complete hole in the wall bar we've been talking (joking) about going to for 5 years.  So we actually did it, and it really wasn't as bad as any of us had thought it would be.  No photo proof, which is a total shame.  Next time...

Met my husband at the bowling alley with his friend and his sister and brother in law and of course, our little princesses.  Aunt Ruthie and Uncle Ronnie are the girls favorites.  The girls are so beyond blessed to have them.  They're everything you could ever hope for in an aunt and uncle and in so many ways they help fill in the voids of the girls no longer having grandmothers with sleepovers and spoiling and just love that you can't get from anybody else but family.

Addy wore bowling shoes for the first time ever.

And Beebs, who usually spends most of her time running around, actually did a pretty good job of staying with us.  Sniffle, they're growing up!

February 6, 2014 - Once in A Blue Moon

There I was, enjoying my cup of tea and Yogi-ism of the day, pondering deep thoughts.... when something so unusual and rare occurred, I had to interrupt my otherwise mundane evening to capture it for all the world to see.

My husband was reading a book!  Like, an actual book, without rhymes, without pictures, without princesses!  It turns out he only actually read the "introduction", but it was 8 pages nonetheless.

February 5, 2014 - Peace and Decaf

My husband took our girls to a college basketball game tonight.  I elected to stay home.  I love these rare moments when the house feels exactly like this, probably because they're so few and far between.

February 4, 2014 - Bedtime Blues

Love isn't a battlefield, bedtime is.  You'd think by her nearly 5th year of life she'd know that it doesn't work either.  Maybe on that softy, Daddy, but not this lady, Toots!

February 1, 2014 - Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner... At the 'Muth!

My mom's side of the family love loves Frankenmuth.  I remember going there when we were younger here or there, and I vividly remember staying at the Bavarian Inn after my mom had a miscarriage.  My brother and I got to swim in 5 pools, play in an arcade, play mini golf, and don't even get me started on the chicken dinner.

At any rate, it's still one of my favorite places.  I love the feeling of being there - the scenic town, the music, the food, and all the little Germany that it is!  When my husband brought up wanting to go somewhere for the weekend, I was quick to suggest it, and so we did.

I had to run to Target for snacks for the ride.  And then I realized I was belting out a beloved tune from the '90s like nobody's business.  And then I snapped back to reality and said, out loud, "What the heck am I doing??

Our 1 hour 40 minute drive took about 3 1/2 hours, thanks in part to the fact we drove through a snowstorm.  Good idea.  But we arrived, and immediately hit the pool.

Oh shucks!  I didn't get a picture of me in a swimsuit.  Darn....

Hit the play area...

Took a shuttle across the bridge to go to the main restaurant.  The hotel was celebrating Chinese New Year and one of the restaurant's at the hotel had a big child activity.  Well, it included a dragon mascot, and one of the girls acted scared.

We had the always delicious "World Famous Chicken" for dinner, which comes with an obscene amount of food.  Brielle somehow managed to get her soup on her face.  Not surprising...

Last weekend was Winterfest, and the parking lot that has the bands and a patio in the summer had a bunch of these snow sculptures.  Very cool!

Hit the arcade again.  And the pools too!  Despite the fact that she seems to be so accident prone, she also is half part lucky.
